My journey in carpentry and woodworking began over two decades ago when I started spending my days off from my day job assisting friends who were carpenters. I loved every moment of it. This hands-on experience led me to seek every chance I could to undertake joinery projects of my own for friends and family over the years - amassing more skills and experience along the way.

In 2018, I had the opportunity to learn from a skilled furniture maker, Nick Thwaites, near Honiton. During that summer, I gained valuable insights into solid wood furniture making, including processing rough-sawn boards, using both machinery and traditional hand tools for straightening and flattening, and mastering joining and finishing techniques. Shortly after, I started Joyce Made and now make beautiful furniture for clients all around the world
